Ayed Saqer Al-Mutairi, Projects and Local Organizations superintendent at the House, said that Al-Suqya project, which started in 2004, is one of the most important vital projects that came in place of the water fountain project, which was established by Zakat House in 1983 and stopped in late 2009. It is based on providing bottled water, juice or laban in refrigerators located in the most vital locations.
Al-Mutairi added that the project provides these beverages in the centers dealing with the House such as social service department centers in Salwa, Eshbelia, Al-Jahra and Fahad Al-Ahmad, because of the high number of visitors, in addition to the hospitals, including Al-Adan Hospital to serve patients and visitors, and Kuwait Teachers Society branches in Al-Dasma, Al-Jahra and Al-Manqaf to cover students' needs.
He added that the project provided (88008) bottles at a cost of 3,784 KD - three thousand seven hundred and eighty-four dinars. He pointed out that the donor can donate any amount of money to this project, indicating that the value of one water bottle is 50 fils, the laban or juice packet is 100 fils and such donations can be received in kind.
As of the second part of Al-Suqya project, which is a mobile distribution of bottled water, Al-Mutairi said that it is implemented seasonally during the summer months according to the availability of sufficient donations, which provides water, laban and juice to the workers located in workplaces and constructions in all governorates of Kuwait as a contribution from the House to relieve the heat wave.
He pointed out that Al-Suqya mobile distribution of bottled water is one of the humanitarian projects implemented by Zakat House since 2002 that provids cars equipped with refrigerators and workers needed to distribute laban and cold water on workers in their workplaces. The project cars moves from one location to another in several governorates to cover large areas so that workers in workplaces, constructions, roads, bus stations and other places crowded with pedestrians at times of high temperature can benefit from to relieve the heat.
